We take a deep dive into the Patriots Final 53-man Roster Projection!!!!!

Patriots are looking for great things from franchise quarterback Drake Maye in year 2 this year
Patriots are looking for great things from franchise quarterback Drake Maye in year 2 this year

The Quarterback position is pretty much set with last year's third overall pick Quarterback Drake Maye as your franchise starter. Behind Maye are newly signed veteran quarterback Joshua Dobbs and undrafted quarterback Ben Wooldridge from Louisiana. My projection at the quarterback spot is the Patriots carry two quarterbacks and try to sneak Wooldridge on the practice squad or sign another quarterback to the practice squad.

At the Running Back spot incumbent running backs Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson are locks to make the team, followed by second round draft pick TreVeyon Henderson from Ohio State. Now the question is how many running backs will New England keep on its original fifty-three-man roster? So, I had the Patriots originally keeping four running backs however, when I started to do my research, I have the Patriots also keeping undrafted rookie Lan Larison, and newly signed Trevion Williams formally of the Cincinnati Bengals that would give the Patriots five running backs Making the team out of training camp.

The Wide Receiver competition is going to be very interesting and explosive this summer and could lead to a major shake up on the team. One major question the Patriots have do is does the team move on from either of the rookies that was drafted last year? What happens with Stefon Diggs coming off an injury? How many wide receivers will the Patriots carry, well here’s my input on this position battle both veteran and newly acquired veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs who is coming off an injury as well as last year second round draft pick Ja'Lynn Polk puts the team in an interesting situation. I think both of those players are candidates to start the season on the injured reserve/PUP list, freeing up two roster spots for other players. Now other wide receivers who are locks to make this team are Patriots Veteran wide receiver DeMario Douglas and newly acquired free agent signing Mack Hollins. I would also add wide receiver Kayshon Boutte who is a favorite target for quarterback Drake Maye and veteran Kendrick Bourne who had his best season a few years ago when offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniel's was here. I think both of those players are solid starters in the NFL and should make the team on the teams fifty-three-man roster as well. The true battle is going to be between Javon Baker last year’s fourth round draft pick and undrafted rookie sensation who is tearing it up so far since he signed his undrafted free agent contract Efton Chism III. Do they both make the team as well? If so, that would give the Patriots seven wide receivers while putting both Diggs and Polk on injured reserve and I think this is what the Patriots are going to do. They’re going to carry seven wide receivers.

Next position we will look at is the Tight End position, the Patriots have two veteran tight ends, Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper both should be locks to make the team. I also think Jaheim Bell could make the team with a great summer camp. He showed promise coming out of college at Florida State and should battle for a roster spot. I see the Patriots carrying three tight ends this season adding help on the practice squad.

Now, everybody’s favorite position Offensive Line. The Patriots have struggled finding the right players and developing draft picks on the Offensive Line position over the past several seasons. This lack of production from this position has cost the team developing quarterbacks and holding the offense back. Locks to make the team is their first-round draft pick Will Campbell who should step right in and be quarterback, Drake Maye's protector on the blindside at left tackle. The question is who the left guard and I think that’s going to go to Layden Robinson last year ‘s 103rd overall draft pick. The center position is going to have a battle between Newly Signed Center, Garrett Bradberry, and former first round pick Cole Strange. The center position is going to be interesting to see who starts at that position as I think Bradberry wins the spot, however both players should make the team. Now moving onto the right side of the offensive line, and old friend right Guard, Mike Onwenu and newly signed free agent right tackle Morgan Moses will round out the offensive line. Other players are locks to make the team are newly drafted center from Georgia Jared Wilson and last year’s draft pick Caeden Wallace from Penn State and that would put New England Carrying nine offensive lineman this season.

Moving onto the defense, I have the Patriots defensive line being stacked led by newly signed, prize, free agent from the Super Bowl champion Eagles defensive lineman Milton Williams. With Williams the inside of the defensive line will consist of veterans Christian Barmore, Keion White, and defensive lineman Harold Landry and four players are locks to make the team plus another player to keep an eye on is veteran, Jeremiah Farms Junior, who also should be a lock to make the team. One player who intrigues me is newly drafted defensive lineman from Florida State, who the Patriots traded up to draft is Joshua Farms who adds youth and depth to the defensive line.

We now move onto the Linebacker position and the linebackers which should also be a heavily battled position this summer. I have veterans Christian Ellis and newly acquired free agent, Robert Spillane, plus hold over Patriots veteran Anthony Jennings, all as locks to make the team add to that I would also pencil in free agents, Jack Gibbons, and K'Lavon Chaisson as locks to make the team as well. The Patriots made a draft steal in the fifth round of this year's NFL Draft taking Bradyn Swinson from LSU. This would give the Patriots six linebackers, and I did not mention Jelani Tavai. He is coming off an injury I think he could open up the season on the injured reserve list/physically unable to perform list as well.

This could be the Patriots strongest positions on the team, and we now move to the defensive backfield. This is going to be one of the toughest battles and the most intriguing position to watch, the cornerback, and safety rooms. In the corner back room newly signed prize free agent from the Lions, Carlton Davis III as well as Patriot veteran Christian Gonzalez should lead to a top corner back room in the NFL this season. The Patriots add solid players to the room such as Alex Austin, Jaylinn Hawkins, and last year’s draft pick Marcellas Dial Junior, who should all make the team this year. Add cornerback Marcus Jones with his speed and also will contribute on kick returns on the special team's unit, and rounding out the cornerback back room will be Isaiah Bolden who has shown promise over the past few years.

At Safety the Patriots have two solid safeties and veterans Kyle Dugger and Jabrill Peppers bolt will help the Patriots have any elite secondary. They will be followed up by patriot veterans, Jaylinn Hawkins and Marte Maru as well as last year Rookie sensation Dell Pettus that would give the Patriots five safeties to go with the seven cornerbacks, bringing the total to 12 defensive backs on the roster

I round out my roster projections on special teams, with newly drafted place kicker Andy Borregales,

as well as punter Bryce Baringer they are looks to make the team as well as special teamer Brenden Schooler, who is our special team ‘s ace so that would put the Patriots having three special teams' players. With the new kickoff rules this could be the Patriots advantage this season and a major key to victories. They have speed on this team with players such as Efton Chism III, Demario Douglas who should thrive when they have the ball.

To summarize my final 53-man roster projections I have the Patriots with 26 offensive players 25 defensive players and three special teams' players totaling up to my 53-man roster. I also have the Patriots put in three players on injured reserve or the PUP list. Let me know what you think in my next article. I will go in depth into players who do not make the 53-man roster, but our prime candidate to make the practice squad
