The New England Patriots are still looking for a true X receiver as training camp approaches. How many wide receivers do the New England Patriots have on their roster this season when the team makes the final cuts. We will take a deep dive into the wide receiver room in this article. Who will make the final roster spot for the New England Patriots this year at the wide receiver position. The Patriots currently have twelve wide receivers on the ninety-man roster. The coaching staff will have some tough decisions when cut time comes as they will decide who stays and who goes. Will, Stefon Diggs make this year's team or will he be traded? Will last year‘s rookies Jalen Polk and Javon Baker solidify spots on the roster. In this article, we will explore who I think will make it at wide receiver this year in New England.

Going into the start of training camp next week on July 22 the Patriots battle at wide receiver will be intense and hard fought as players will show they belong in the NFL. The Patriots have two players coming off injuries from last season, newly acquired wide receiver, Stefon Diggs and last year second round pick Jalen Polk. New England will have to make decisions on those players as summer camp approaches. Do the Patriots activate them, or do they put them both on the injured reserve/PUP list to start the season? Another question is do the Patriots keep Keyshawn Boutte who a favorite of quarterback Drake Maye is. Kendrick Bourne who thrives in new offensive head coach Josh McDaniel's system will be another interesting player to watch. He had a great year when they were together a few years ago. Newly added free agent Mack Hollins should also add dept to the room as well. Mack Hollins is another wide receiver that could play big into the Patriots plans. This season's newly drafted third round draft pick Kyle Williams from Washington State has the speed and agility to get open and make big plays for the team, and he could be just what the team needs opposite Stefon Diggs. However, the sleeper or hidden gem for the New England Patriots offense could be undrafted rookie sensation from Eastern Washington, Efton Chism III who has speed will put some moves on defenders to get open. Chism will fit perfectly into Josh McDaniel’s offense. Finally speedy wide receiver Demario Douglas should thrive in Josh McDaniel's offense as it seems like he is built for this offense that offensive coordinator Josh McDaniel's will run and could have his best pro season yet.

To sum up this article on the wide receivers I think New England will keep seven wide receivers. The key to the final Wide Receiver room will be what they do with Stefon Diggs and Jaylen Polk coming off injuries and if they can stash them on IR or the PUP list given both wide receivers time to fully heal, will they keep their core wide receivers intact not having to cut or trade any one of them currently on the roster now. Who will stay and who will go? Who will stand out and be a playmaker this season. Who will Drake Maye rely on the most. The Patriots will have many questions and hopefully many answers when the final wide receiver cuts come to the roster at the end of Preseason.
